Carrying the Load for Mainfreight
Piletech was approached by the design consultants for this project to develop a screw pile solution for the foundations of Mainfreight’s new office and freight terminal on the Wellington waterfront, adjacent to Centreport and Westpac Stadium.Piles were required to carry loads in both tension and compression, in variable layered soils and in reclaimed land. Multiple helix piles were used and Piletech worked closely with the geotechnical engineers on the project to ensure piles were designed with the appropriate level of redundancy for the loading and site conditions. Contingency plans were developed for the possibility of in ground obstructions in the reclaimed land, however few obstructions were encountered on site.
